Lina is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S) in Texas. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia (2009) and a dual Master’s degree in Professional Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from New Mexico Highlands University (2015). Lina has gained years of experience as a counselor in community, school, and hospital settings. She has worked with adolescents, adults, families, couples, and groups. She has experience helping people to adjust to life transitions and deal with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship and other adjustment issues. Lina uses a variety of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), Trauma-focused CBT, Solution-focused
brief therapy, Person-centered, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Lina offers a bilingual and multicultural approach to counseling services in English and Spanish. She believes that counseling is a therapeutic relationship that can help clients gain insight and understanding of self-defeating and other destructive behaviors. Her primary therapeutic purpose is to assist clients in defining and achieving personalized treatment goals aimed at improving their quality of life and relationships.
When not working with clients, Lina enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, swimming, and reading. She also enjoys outdoor activities and academic life and is a lifelong learner.
