William Poynter

​Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate

William Poynter received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston and his Master of Arts in Counseling from the Houston Baptist University.  He is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of April D. Macakanja, MS, LPC-S.

He has passionately served his local community for over the last 6 years by being a part of a non-profit organization and providing quality mental health care services for those in need. William has in-depth experience working with diverse populations of adults, adolescents, and children in various settings.  He effectively uses modalities including cognitive behavior therapy, psychoeducation and development of emotion management skills, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, specifically tailored for each client’s individual goals.  He takes a holistic and collective approach to help you manage, work through, and alleviate any issues that may be preventing you from actualizing your greatest full life potentials.  William is bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish.

Being seen, heard, and fully accepted is what creates an authentic connection with others, most importantly with yourself.  William wholeheartedly wants to welcome  you with whatever dilemma or burden you may be carrying, and to simply just, “come as you are.”  He endeavors to walk alongside and meet you where you are in life, helping guide you to the path of your desired therapeutic destination.  William will actively listen and support you in identifying your needs, wants, and all the things that are of great importance to you.  He strives to empower you to take control of all your unique experiences, so that, you can live, love, and look forward to enjoying the rest of your life now.
In his free time, William enjoys reading, staying active in health and fitness, listening to music, and spending quality time with his family.
